Inspired by the mobilizing on the West Coast, organizers across "Canada" have begun awareness-raising efforts. Building on the call from the West Coast for anti-capitalist and anti-colonial resistance to the Olympics, some organizers affiliated with the "People's Global Action" Bloc (PGA-Bloc) in Ontario and Quebec have begun mobilizing around "Resistance2010", linking anti-Olympics efforts to organizing against the G8 and SPP, and the day-to-day systems and institutions of power and oppression they represent.

Common Cause Ottawa interview with Pete St-Antoine of Peoples Global Action (PGA) Bloc Ottawa

Q. Could you introduce yourself?

I’m Pete St-Antoine and I organize with Peoples Global Action (PGA) Bloc Ottawa.

Q. PGA Ottawa is organizing around the No 2010 campaign against the Olympics in Vancouver. What are the reasons that you’re opposing it?

There are lots of reasons we’re opposing the Olympics. One of the main ones is that they’re happening on stolen (aboriginal) land. That’s one on the main things that people are rallying around in Vancouver. People are losing their land and they’re also seeing a lot of land being destroyed. A lot of mountains are being destroyed right now. There are huge expansions right now of many resorts. Sun Peaks is one of them. They are countless resorts that are being expanded for the Olympics as part of the infrastructure and also because of the huge amount of traffic that they’re expecting during that time period.

A bit of symbolism helps to explain things, as a trash can is used to smash more RBC windows.

The night of March 11th, 2008, the Royal Bank location at Elgin and Lisgar in Ottawa was again the target of our rage against the evils they sponsor. The trash can we hurled through their window shows what we think of their Corporate Circus (the 2010 Winter Olympics) - to wit, that it is nothing but garbage!

After a month of waiting, we've finally struck the VANOC Clock counting down to the 2010 Corporate Circus. Sorry for the delay.

The Olympics are not about the human spirit & have little to do with
athletic excellence; they are a multi-billion dollar industry backed by
powerful elites, real estate, construction, hotel, tourism and television
corporations, working hand in hand with their partners in crime:
government officials & members of the International Olympic Committee
(IOC).

On the night of March 1st, 2008, the Elgin St Royal Bank in Ottawa was - yet again - the target of the resistance to the ecocide and genocide perpetrated by VANOC and its corporate sponsors in the manifestation of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Yet again, the windows have been smashed in an act of solidarity with the poor and homeless of Coast Salish (Vancouver-Whistler), with the evnironment, which will be further destroyed as a result of the Corporate Circus, and with Indigenous peoples whose lands and cultures are being co-opted for the sake of corporate profits.
